Ministries

Ministry and outreach are the natural overflow of the Christian church. As we see and experience Christ’s rich love for us in spite of our unlovable state, our instinctive response is to hold out that love to others. Worshippers of Providence Church are Kingdom-extending agents, spreading the life-changing gospel of Christ to others in concrete ways. We seek to follow the Lord’s call to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19), whether that is in our own church, our community or abroad. To that end, we actively develop local ministries and support external mission works locally, nationally, and internationally. Our current missions support includes…

Sons of Issachar (Men’s Bible Study)
Sons of Issachar is a meeting of men and sons on the first and third Tuesday evening of each month to discuss topics relevant to Christian living in today’s culture. It is said of the sons of Issachar in Israel in the Old Testament that “they understood the times and knew what to do.” This is the goal of Providence’s Sons of Issachar, to the end that we might live effectively as salt and light in the world and train our “young men to be strong, to have the Word of God abide in them, and to overcome the wicked one.”

For information on this fellowship, please contact Pastor James McDonald at 309-387-2600.

Heart to Heart (Women’s Bible Study)
The Women’s Ministry of Providence Church seeks to develop strong relationships among our women. Together we can encourage each other to reflect God’s Glory daily in our homes, our church, and our communities . . .
~ as we delight in our God-given design
~ as we grow, by God’s Grace, in sanctification
~ as we learn to love and honor our husbands
~ as we seek to train and nurture our covenant children
~ as we humbly serve one another

Heart to Heart - Evening Studies
Those interested in an ongoing study will enjoy these evenings (second and fourth Tuesdays) of Bible and book studies coupled with good food and fellowship.

Heart to Heart - Saturday Mornings
The first Saturday morning of each month is reserved for a time of refreshing fellowship, mutual encouragement, and loving instruction. Some months will be times of celebration for the life happenings of our women (otherwise known as “showers”). Odd-numbered months will be mini-retreats.

For information on this fellowship, please contact Mrs. Stacy McDonald or Mrs. Janice Price at 309-387-2600.

Providence Hymns Sings

Providence Church celebrates family discipleship in a special way during our monthly hymn sings.  First we get together for a meal and a time for fellowship. Then we offer families an opportunity to recite their scripture memory work for the month, sing hymns or give a testimony.  This time is great encouragement for families who are engaged in family discipleship!

Hymn sings are also a time where like-minded believers can get together and share their burdens and blessings and also a time for young people to get to know each other.  It is open to all Christian families in the area engaged in family discipleship.

Please feel welcome to join with us at our next Hymn sing! For information, please contact the church office at 309-387-2600.

Disciple Makers
Each Sunday afternoon, we offer a short class called Disciple Makers which is composed of three initiatives. The first portion allows us to recognize the memorization efforts of those in the church who are participating in our memorization ministry. Then, we spend time reviewing one of the questions in the Westminster Shorter Catechism. Lastly, we spend time learning to sing one of the Psalms and hymns in four-part harmony. We pray you will join us for this exciting time of fellowship and instruction.
